Hibernian Towers

Space exists everywhere. Man can not create space. In the shaping and defining of space lie the art of architecture.

Beachfront developments in the Strand, with their strong vertical elements, contrast with the horizontal shoreline. The point of departure, therefore, was enjoyment and awareness of the views of the Hottentots-Holland mountains, Cape Point, Table Mountain, False Bay, long stretches of white sandy beach and the Helderberg Nature Reserve. It was also the architect’s task to provide future owners of the apartments with a strong sense of exclusivity.

No shape is unique anymore. The serious architect, like the composer of music, strives to fuse the new and unknown with elements of the known. If, in so doing, the architect can combine a pleasant environment with an awareness of the pristine beauty of the Cape, his higher purpose has been fulfilled.

Hibernian Towers does not try to imitate other buildings or styles. Instead, it tries to give new meaning to known shapes and forms.
